This is a 1/48 scale military scale diecast model from Hobby Master. This model is the Curtiss Hawk 81A-2 Ft Ldr Charles Older, Burma May 1942
The first flight of the all-metal, single-engine, single-seat fighter and ground-attack aircraft, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk, took place in 1938. The P-40 was swiftly developed and went into service in record time because it was a modified P-36 Hawk. The aircraft was referred to as the Warhawk by the USAAF, Tomahawk by the British Commonwealth and the Soviet Union, and Kittyhawk by the D and later versions. By 1944, when production ended, about 18,000 aircraft had been produced.
Charles (Chuck) Older joined VMF-1 in 1940. He left the Marines in July 1941 and enlisted in the AVG. Older was assigned to the three AVG squadrons, "Adam and Eve," "Panda Bear," and "Hell's Angels." Older defeated Rangoon, Burma, five times in December 1941. Older added eight more wins after becoming a double Ace with the AVG. After serving in Korea, Older retired to become a judge and oversaw the Charles Manson case.
