With its distinctive hump, the Sikorsky H-34 is one of the most recognizable helicopters in history. Originally serving as medium transport with the armed forces of 25 countries across every continent, this helicopter was brought to prominence during wars in Algeria and Southeast Asia.

From patrolling the horizon equipped for anti-submarine warfare, gunship roles, to troop evacuation and transport, search and rescue, cargo hauling, commercial airline shuttling, recovering space capsules, and even carrying presidents, the H-34 made its mark in both the military and civilian world - and has defined the role of helicopters ever since.

The Eyes In the Sky of Anti-Submarine Warfare

Our Sikorsky HSS-1/SH-34G Seabat helicopter, manufacturer serial #58-165, was delivered to the U.S. Navy as 140121 in December 1955 as one of the 215 Anti-Submarine models built, and were re-designated UH-34G in 1962. While stationed at Michigan’s Grosse Ile Naval Air Station, the aircraft was partially damaged in a fire involving a fuel truck and a C-119 Boxcar. It was hauled to the Soplata property in 1963, and is now part of the PlaneTags Soplata Collection.

Important Notice – Please Read Carefully

PlaneTags are made from actual retired aircraft fuselage, not merely stamped metal. Because PlaneTags are made from real fuselage, each PlaneTag bears the color, thickness, and wear and tear from the portion of the fuselage from which it was cut and it is therefore rare to create two identical PlaneTags. These variations and imperfections are not product flaws. They are part of the beauty of PlaneTags. As a result, you will have a limitied option to select the color of your PlaneTag. The images on this website are provided for reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for choosing a particular PlaneTag.
