Sportys have finally designed the perfect pilot flashlight. The Flight Gear LED Flashlight is constructed with aircraft grade aluminum. A focusing bezel provides both flood and spot light options. Independent buttons for both red and white light mean you won’t have to scroll thru one to get to the other. In addition, if one color of light is on and you want to switch to the other, the first color automatically shuts off. Both colors have a high and low setting, and they are pilot friendly organized.

Logging night flight and landings can be confusing. This is why we printed the two most relevant FARs to flying at night right on the body of the light.

Features:
• Independent buttons
• Red and white LED light
• High and low power settings
• Wrist lanyard
• 2 AA batteries
• Focusing bezel
• FARs printed on body

Flashlight Operation
The pilots at Sporty’s custom designed this light specifically for flying at night. We went above and beyond to make sure this flashlight was perfect for our needs as general aviation pilots.

Red Light
The red light is activated by the raised red button. The first press is low and provides just the right amount of light for in the cockpit. The second press is high and is great for loading/unloading cargo. If you leave the low setting on for more the 5 seconds, the next press will turn the light off. No scrolling thru a bright red light to deactivate the light.

White Light
The white light is activated by the black button. The first press is high for maximum preflight illumination. The second press is low and helps to conserve battery life. If you leave the high setting on for more the 5 seconds, the next press will turn the light off. No scrolling thru the low white setting just to turn the light off.

Intelligent Light
There isn’t a situation in aviation where you would need both colors of light on at the same time. For this reason, if you are using one color of light and activate a different color, the original color with deactivate. This preserves battery life.

The two Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) that most pertain to pilot currency are printed directly on the side of the flashlight.

Printed on the Flashlight:
FAR 1.1 LOGGING NIGHT TIME
EVENING CIVIL TWILIGHT TO
MORNING CIVIL TWILIGHT

The complete FAR:
FAR 1.1: Logging Night Time – the definition of night time is the time between the end of evening civil twilight and the beginning of morning civil twilight, as published by the American Air Almanac, converted to local time.

Printed on the Flashlight:
FAR 61.57(B) NIGHT LANDINGS
ONE HOUR AFTER SUNSET TO
ONE HOUR BEFORE SUNRISE

The complete FAR:
FAR 61.57: Recent Flight Experience – no person may act as pilot in command of an aircraft carrying passengers during the period of 1 hour after sunset and ending 1 hour before sunrise, unless in the proceeding 90 days that person has made at least three takeoffs and three landings to a full stop during the period beginning 1 hour after sunset and ending 1 hour before sunrise.

The Flight Gear Flashlight uses two AA batteries (included), just like most ANR headsets. No need to carry exotic battery types for a special light. Included wrist lanyard makes it easy to stow and will help keep it from rolling around on the floor next to your rudder pedals. Measures approx. 7" long.
